Carpet & Upholstery
The low-down on dirt beneath the pile
The myth
Don’t be fooled by steam extraction. Hot water extraction is the preferred method as outlined in the Australia New Zealand Standards (ANZS) for carpet and upholstery cleaning – and the only process that gets to the bottom of dirt lurking beneath the pile.
The process
- ProClean prepares your carpet using approved pre-spray detergent. This
attracts the dirt and loosens it – ready for hot water.
- ProClean then injects hot water into your carpet. Water temperature is the critical factor. Which is why we never use hot water from your system. We take cold water and heat it to precise temperatures using our equipment. This not only ensures proper carpet cleaning, it saves your hot water.
- Drying carpet is the third important element. Once all dirt is extracted, ProClean dries and deodorises your carpet, leaving it fresh and clean.
- If drying isn’t done correctly, mould can set in and discolour your carpet. The wick of the carpet’s jute backing will break up and work through carpet fibres if it is left too wet - ultimately ruining your carpet.
- ProClean’s method leaves no resoiling residues. This is important, because
if chemicals aren’t extracted, PH levels won’t return to neutral levels.
Tips for protecting your carpet
The best way you can look after your carpet is to value it.
- Vacuum regularly
- Avoid grit and sand getting into carpet pile and wearing down the fibres.
- You can do this by limiting wearing shoes inside, and placing mats at exit
doors – inside and out.
If spills do occur – call ProClean first. We will tell you how to contain the spill - putting paper towels around the spill, diluting it with cold water and blotting with paper towels – not newsprint.
ProClean - true professionals in carpet cleaning and flood restoration work.
